Making a Splash

It is hard to believe that almost a month has gone by, and I haven't posted anything on our blog!! I guess we just got busy with life! Lately, we have spent more time in the pool. Dave takes J a couple times a week to our neighborhood pool, and I took him for a swimming playdate last week. We finally went to our YMCA waterpark last Saturday. It is such a neat place for kids, and we haven't made time for it this summer. After taking J, I can hardly wait to take him back...tomorrow! He just loves it there, and it is even easier for me than last year. He went up and down the different slides while Dave and I sat in the water enjoying a conversation. We noticed that he wasn't exactly waiting his turn in line, but the nice lifeguards were there to remind him to wait. A couple of times, he managed to sneak through the big kids' legs, plop down, and take his turn before time. Finally, Dave went up the waterslide with J, and reminded him how to wait in line. :)

J tried out these baby swings. He liked them, but that kind of fun didn't last long.

Then, we took J over to the big pool for some swimming. He has really made a lot of improvement in his swimming. From the time he was very young, he has been comfortable in the water and would hold his breath on cue. This year, he is learning when to hold his breath without being told; he'll jump in, go under, and swim a very short distance to us; he is finally starting to be able to pull himself out of the water onto the side of the pool; he is making every attempt to be independent of us in the water. We are looking into some more lessons for him.

I am ready to go!

  1. Hey Buddy!!
I can't believe you cut into line without me teaching you how to do it. That is the way we do it in Calif. No sense waiting when you can go right ahead, right? Atta Boy!!
