Swim Lessons Completed

We finished up swim lessons on Thursday. J did well, even better progress the last few weeks. I thought he may get a little certificate saying he participated, but J actually got a real progress report! He learned how to push off of the side of the pool, a few techniques for floating on his back (chicken, airplane, rocket), and practiced being horizontal in the pool & sticking his face in while paddling. We still need to work on the latter two. It helped that going under, paddling, jumping in along with an overall comfort in the water were things he already had under his belt. He can do this class again until he is 6. He loved the lessons...sometimes a little too much...at times, he would just let go of the side of the pool and paddle to the swim instructor when she wasn't ready for him. It was sorta funny but really he needed to follow her directions about holding on and watching her demonstrations. We had to remind him of this often. Here are a few pics from the last day.

Swim lessons are over, but now is the time to sign up for team sports. Yes, I can't believe it, but 3 year olds can play soccer or t-ball at the Y. Dave and I want him to try both, but we just aren't sure he is ready for team sports...maybe next year!
