Snowy Day

We woke up to SNOW! We spent a little while out in it but mostly just enjoyed relaxing inside. Almost everywhere around here is closed; Dave has been out twice today! I think tomorrow will be the same as we already know that church has been cancelled. This morning, our neighbors offered to let J take a ride on their tube down the hill in our cul-de-sac. He LOVED it! We were so proud of him for being brave and hope he will always be willing to try new things! Hope everyone is staying warm!

Where's the Snow?

Today was really busy! We started the day with a playdate; it was with my table group from MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and their children. It was so much fun that the time slipped away, and it was past time for lunch when we left. So, my friend, Kelley, and I quickly headed to Chic-fil-A (yes, again!) with J and her 2 year old. Our little boys are just two weeks apart in age. She is actually the first friend I met here. Our boys took swim lessons together last July, and from there we started having lots of playdates that mostly consisted of me asking endless questions about the area! Since then, our husbands have become great friends, also, and we have a lot of fun times together! Tonight, Dave and I ate at this little pizza place right near our house that they had recommended awhile back, and we fell in love with it right away! Yum!

Dave, J, and I want to wish my sister, Steph, a great big, "Happy Birthday"!!! She is 4 years older than me, and we hope her 29th birthday was fantastic! ;)

There is no snow at our house right now! How about at yours?

It's a Beautiful Day

I love the warm weather we are having today! We spent a little time outside after lunch to just enjoy the beautiful weather! I can't believe the weather report for the weekend, though...crazy! J slept until 8:50 this morning; however, I was up at usual time getting ready to take him to school and run my errands. :( I finally dropped him off at 9:20 and watched him for just a few minutes through the two way mirror. As usual, he was happy to be there and quite fine for me to leave! He gave both of his teachers a big smile and a hug since he didnt see them on Tuesday. His teachers are amazingly loving and compassionate ladies. They are so sincere in their love for the children and always find something positive to say even when you know that 10 two year olds cannot always be pleasant! After teaching for 8 years, I have to say that it is much different being on the other other side of the door!! I made a quick trip to the Y which I haven't been going to consistently lately for this or that reason. I am going to try to do better, so that maybe I can see some results! If anyone has any ideas on how to make exercising more enjoyable, please feel free to share! :)

Daddy's Little Guy

Dave made me post these. Just kidding!! He did suggest it, but I agree that J does look pretty cute! It was also very sweet that J found the hat, put it on, and wanted to wear it-he NEVER wants to wear a hat!

Wacky Wednesday

Wow, I never imagined that I would blog this much! I think I have posted something everyday since we started the blog. Today was pretty typical except for J has turned into Mr. Grumpy for the day! Perhaps this little cold that he has is the reason. Anyway, you can pretty much tell that the day is going to be challenging when your toddler gets mad because you have stopped at a red light or a meltdown occurs all because we don't need to wash our hands ONE MORE TIME! Storytime at the library is always a lot of fun here. It incorporates a variety of music, moving, instruments, and books, of course! It also helps that two of our little gal pals are there. We decided to have lunch with one of our pals afterwards. We seem to always end up at Chic-fil-A! You can't go wrong with the food there, and the service is awesome. They are always willing to help us moms who have our hands full and seem to enjoy it! J is a really good eater, so it allows me time to talk with the other mom while we eat. Some playdates just end up with me chasing J in one direction while the other mom chases her child in a different direction. Oh, I remember the days when J just sat on a blanket playing with the toys in front of him! Thank goodness every age brings new joys! After lunch and a little time in the play area, we headed home for a nap; hopefully, Mr. Grumpy will transform back into my sweet boy!

Ears Look Good...FINALLY

J had his post-op follow-up on his ears today! It is so great to hear the doctors say his ears look great after hearing the opposite so often before tubes. We are very thankful that we have found some really good doctors here. Dr. Parsons is the specialist (pediatric otolaryngologist) who we consulted about J's persistent ear infections/fluid and eventually put the tubes in his ears. We now know that God led us straight to the most kind, compassionate, and skilled doctor around. He has given us so much time, patience, and information for such a routine procedure. We definitely knew we couldn't have asked for a better doctor when he prayed with us shortly before he took J back to the OR for surgery. We go back in six months for hopefully another good report!

Little Helper

Our Mondays are usually spent at home, and we love it that way! It is just a time for me to catch up on household chores, play with J (stick in some learning activities), and just relax together before the busyness of the week begins. J is usually pretty good about playing by himself, but he is at the age where he wants to help with everything that we do! I don't really mind since I am at home with him, and we aren't usually in a hurry. Sometimes, I will even look for activities where he can help. His favorites are helping me make coffee and doing laundry. This morning I decided to let him help me make lemonade, and he thought it was the coolest job ever! :)

This is Fun!

Blogging seems pretty fun so far! Today has started off really well. We have been attending the same church for a few months now and really like it a lot. When we moved, Dave and I knew that finding the right church for our family would take a lot of time and prayer with so many factors involved in the whole process. We haven't joined, yet, but are trying to get involved in the church. We have met a few people through Sunday School, and we are also a part of a Bible study on Sunday nights. It is actually the first Bible study that Dave and I have done together. We are learning a lot and enjoying the time to grow together. After church, we had a yummy lunch at Beef O'Bradys (kids eat free on Sundays) with another couple from church who have two little boys; one is J's age. It is so nice to share and learn from other Christian parents experiencing the same trials & joys as us! I decided to try posting a pic on here. Dave took a few of J before church this morning hoping a few would be blogworthy but found that there were only two of him being still!

Here I Go!

I have finally joined the blogging world! I am not sure what I am going to write about, but at least it will be another good way for us to connect with our family & friends who don't live here. I finally decided to give it a try this morning while Dave and J are at the Y. Dave likes to take him to the pool as often as he can to be sure J stays comfortable in the water. Sometimes, I join them, but other times I let them have their "guy time". J definitely associates certain activities with Daddy! Of course, while Dave is at work during the week, we have our time-playdates, storytime, lunch dates, etc. I am sure there will be quite a few posts about these activities! I just hope I will keep up with our blog as we experience life with a toddler in a new city! Enjoy peeking into our world!
