Birthday Celebration #2

Dave had his 2nd birthday celebration with J and me last night. We took him to one of our favorite local, casual restaurants. You can build your own gourmet burger, and they make two scrambled eggs for J everytime we go in there. They have the best burgers and fries around!! Even better, it is right next to my favorite mall...even better for ME, that is. Also, Dave had a great lunch with his team from work (Celebration #3). They took him out for Mexican, and he loved it, as always.

Woohoo, Hurt Locker on blue-ray!!!

Birthday Guy

Someone in our house has a birthday today! In fact, he is the oldest member of our family of three!! Yes, Dave is celebrating his 36th birthday today!!! I am so thankful for this man and that God has allowed ME to share a lifetime with him. This day is special to me, too, as I realize it is the day that the Lord brought Dave into the world and already knew the great plans He had for him.

Birthday Celebration #1

Birthdays in our house are celebrated for at least a week! This week is extra special because Dave will be celebrating his actual birthday on Thursday. We started celebrating this weekend with Dave's parents. They came into town on Friday, and Dave enjoyed his first birthday dinner/dessert along with some presents, of course! :)

J is really into dancing lately, so here he is dancing with Daddy and Guapo. I wish I could have captured him with his typical dance move...leg stretched back with his hands doing the "Wheels on the Bus" motion. Hilarious!

T-ball Fun with Daddy and Mommy

We think our boy is finally better! The lab did not find anything of concern in his diaper sample, so we (the doctor and us) are now thinking that he developed acid reflux after a stomach virus. The Prevacid is working great at this point. He seems to have all of his energy back!! Here a few pics that we took last night at our t-ball game! ;)

Answers...PLEASE!

The past three weeks have been filled with some excitement but mostly a lot of concern over what is going on with our little boy. He has had diarrhea for twenty days and has vomitted ten nights. We have been to see the doctor twice now, and his diaper is in the lab to see if there is some type of bacteria causing all of this. While we wait on the results, his doctor is treating him for acid reflux (following a virus)to see if that is the issue. So far, he has not vomitted since starting the Prevacid, and SLOWLY seems to be feeling more like himself...more energy, more smiles, etc. At this point, we are ready to have some answers and some uninterrupted SLEEP for all three of us! On that note, today has been our best day...no diarrhea, no vomit, energy level is UP.

Last week, two of my good friends ("teacher friends") came here for a visit. It was so much fun to catch up with these girls, but also to watch the boys interact...even if our conversations abruptly stopped to chase someone, dry tears, demand sharing, or encourage an apology! ;) Thanks for making the trip, Angela and Holly!

This past weekend Dave and I got to do something we hardly ever get to do...have a couple's night out with NO children. That's right, we got together with three other couples for dinner and games on Saturday night while my mom and dad kept J. We had so much fun and haven't laughed that much in a long time. I forgot to take pictures! :(

On Sunday, Dave and J spent pretty much the whole day together while I helped give a baby shower for my friend, Kerri. It was a walk down memory lane as I went back to my college town and the city where I began teaching ten years ago. I always like to go back there for a visit, not necessarily for the city but for the memories. I made some lasting relationships there and am so thankful that God led me to that place. As always, it was great to be back with Kerri and Holly. I didn't take any pictures so I had to find an oldie...but not too old.

My sister is coming over tonight for dinner and even better, she is going to keep J while we go look at a few houses with our agent. Yay!!

Our Easter Weekend

Well, the yucky stomach virus lingers on...
J had a relapse Friday night and was sick again last night. We are now on Day #13. As abnormal and exhausting as this whole mess is for us and J, his doctor isn't too concerned about it. He said it is still within the normal range of duration for a first time stomach virus! Poor guy is tired of Pedialyte, applesauce, dry cereal, etc. We did manage to have a little Easter fun.

My parents came into town to see us and my middle sister who lives nearby. Thankfully, this virus didn't scare them away from seeing J.

Oh, boy...an Easter Donald who sings and dances.

Yummy yogurt melts...my favorite

More surprises...

An Usborne Book...cool!

Easter Surprises/Cards from Grandparents, Cousins, Easter Bunny, etc. minus the three bags of yogurt melts. Mommy had to hide them until snack time. :0

While shopping for Easter eggs in Wal-mart one day, I spotted this cute little spinner that is used to dye eggs. I thought about how much J would like the whole spinning idea this year, and he would have so many more years to dye eggs the traditional way. I got it. It was a lot of fun, but he was "all done" after 3 eggs! Love the attention span of toddlers...usually he can stay focused a little longer...we'll blame it on the sickness. ;)

Getting the eggs ready to boil. Dave showed him how to put them in gently, and he did it that way. Good job, Little Guy!

Almost finished...letting them dry...then he has some Mickey and Donald stickers to put on them. My friend, Kelley, found a Mickey and Donald kit for him to use with the eggs. Too cute! By the way, Mommy dyed the 4th egg-the pink one!

We didn't get to celebrate Easter in a worship service this year because of everything going on with J. We sang with him and shared the importance of the day as best we could with him. We know that we'll talk about Christ in ways that he won't quite understand for some time, but we pray that he will one day start asking us questions. Most importantly, our prayer is that we will model for J a daily relationship with Christ and a love for His word.

Easter Egg Hunt

We only made it to one Easter egg hunt this year since J has been sick with that yucky stomach virus. He is feeling a lot better, but I can tell that he is not quite himself, yet. Also, ten days of being coddled by us has left him a little spoiled. ;) He pretty much just wanted to EAT the snacks today, and it was a little difficult for me to limit them after so many days of eating bland foods. I don't think he had too much to eat, but time will tell...
