Disney Fun

The day after Christmas we left for DISNEY! This was Jackson's 4th visit there and Luke's first, of course! We had been telling J about going to Disney World, and the night before we left we reminded him about our trip. The next morning I asked him where we were going before he even had a chance to remind us. The first thing out of his mouth before thinking--Mickey World...Disney World! So funny! Some of J's favorite characters are: Buzz and Woody, Mickey, Donald and the rest of the gang. He was so excited about going to their house!! Another exciting part of this trip was that J was tall enough to ride most rides, and he was willing to try every one. We would laugh because on some of the rides that were not necessarily just for kids we could tell that he was a little uneasy. There were even some that scared him a little, because stuff came right out at him. Mommy forgot that a friend warned her about this! He was a champ, though. Still, he would get off every single time like he wasn't scared at all. He would say, "Fun, yea, whoo". We would ask him if he wanted to go again, and he would tell us no-no! I guess he had to pretend he was super tough! We are pretty sure his favorite rides were Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear, though! Here's a look at our week...

J's first ride on test track...loved it! Cold morning in Disney!!

Guess who went down the BIG water slide by HIMSELF?!?! He started out on his bottom but was on his tummy by the time he got to the bottom. So brave!

Nothing like the love of little boys...especially at Disney World

Look who is-- sitting!

L is a little over 7 mos. now and about a month ago I started wondering why he wasn't really sitting up, yet. I think I even commented on it to a few people. I knew J was sitting up at 6 mos. and rarely fell over after 7 mos. So, I sat him on the floor one day while J was playing and noticed that he had pretty good support. It totally felt like he gained it overnight. We started letting him sit on the floor more and more. It finally occurred to me that he wasn't really sitting up because WE had not given him the chance! We just always laid him down. Oh my, how things change with baby #2. I knew the milestones before they were supposed to happen with J! Still, so proud of you, little L!

4 Year Old Stats

J had his 4 year old well visit this morning. He did so well! He had to get a couple of shots, :( BUT he did really well. He completed the entire vision test in both eyes using the letters, and she could understand him! His pediatrician said he looked great and was impressed with how well he did during the exam. He has always liked Dr. P and will do almost anything for him!

Here are his stats:

Height: 42 inches (80th%)
Weight: 42 pounds (90th%)

We were worried he might be getting too slender but looks like he is still growing well!

A Bittersweet Year

As 2011 came to an end, it was quite easy for Dave and me to breathe a sigh of relief and pray we never have another year with an ending like it; yet, remembering that even still, it could have been worse.

2011 brought a lot of pain, but it also brought us a happy, healthy, silly, engaging, smiley, spit-up producing, social, hilarious, bouncer-loving, strong, baby boy named Luke, ooh-k! On many days, he is also known as "Ralph" for his unique ability to ralph on everything remotely near him. Oh, how we love this child that we prayed God would give us. Luke, you are an amazing little guy who truly highlighted our year.

So, we call this year bittersweet.

There truly aren't words that can really appropriately express all of the emotions that come to mind when I look at these pictures. Here are a few memories from years past that are especially special this year...

Our three losses in 2011--losses to us but more than sure that they wouldn't choose to come back if they had the choice ;)

Christmas 2011

This year was sweet Luke's FIRST Christmas!!! Both boys are basically rotten and received so many nice presents from our family. The boys got a swingset from Santa this year and a few other little goodies on Christmas morning. I think we captured some pretty awesome memories in these photos...
