Little Luke, Little Mess
End of the Year Fun
Jackson's preschool ended the school year with some fun things! They took their spring field trip to the Spring Fling at the Greenway. Jackson loved so many things here, but his favorite was the bounce house with the tractor ride as his close second! He got to experience some firsts like: petting a live snake and horseback riding. At first, he didn't want to be too close to the horse, much less, RIDE it! But, I played it cool and simply put on the peer pressure as we watched a couple of his classmates riding. I just "pushed" him along to get his helmet and ultimately in line to ride. He never hesitated after his initial response, and I was sooo proud of him! I was always so cautious and scared to try new things as a child, but I want my boys to at least try things before saying they don't want to do it.
A few days later, we were invited in for a special program and snacks provided by the class. Mrs. Long had put together a slideshow from the school year! It was so sweet to see Jackson, full of smiles, in these photos. It gave me a little glimpse into his world at school! He truly loves it there!

Jackson had an AWESOME year with the amazing Mrs. Long and her fabulous assistants!
Mrs. Long is the youngest..so full of energy, enthusiasm, reassurance, and a sincere love for teaching--always thinking and learning! She was so thorough in everything she shared about our little guy and made me feel like Jackson was the only child she was teaching when she clearly gave that much to all of her preschoolers! We are very thankful for this lady! Mrs. Zietler is the brunette..she is a mommy and loved to share stories about Jackson in the classroom. She made me laugh often, especially when she would refer to Jackson as "rockin' it in the class" to indicate how well he did that day. Mrs. Satriano just joined the group a few months ago when all of the classes got an additional assistant. She has a sweet disposition, and Jackson quickly began talking about her at home. He reminded her of her own sons! :)
When I think back to this time last year, I almost can't believe his progress! He is writing now and can identify some blended phonemes, number quantities, all of his letters and their sounds, counts, says the pledge of allegiance, can tell you basic info. about himself, etc.! There are so many highlights from this year! In the area of speech and language, I constantly see him able to do things that were once so very hard for him! I have to smile when I hear him SINGING at the top of his lungs and to remember those days on the floor when we were trying to get him to prolong a sound or say it in unison. Those things come so naturally for him now, but they didn't always. Last night, I asked him where his soap was in the bathtub, he said "I don't know where soap is!" Unbelievable! When I see him in therapy, especially OT, when they are addressing his praxis through block designs, I see his "wheels turning" and correcting himself, and I'm just so proud of that perseverance!
Jackson loved his time in preschool! I cant even name everything he enjoyed, but I will try to remember as much as possible to share with him one day! He got to play so many cool group games (loved Hot Potato, musical chairs, and Growly Bear), made things like real applesauce, saw the firetruck & fireman, sang & played handbells, was calendar helper and ASKED his friends about their birthday, learned about the weather and the life cycle of a butterfly, played in fun centers like cars, trains, and dress up, used the Smartboard, and so, so much more!
Jackson had a truly wonderful team working with him this year! They love him, and he knows it! ;)

A Morning Swim
Dave and I took the boys swimming this morning at the Y. We didn't realize until we got there that the outside waterpark opened today! We decided to go on with our plan since Luke would probably enjoy the warm water more. Here are the guys:

Mother's Day
We spent Mother's Day in Murrell's Inlet with my parents this year. It was a nice getaway for all of us! Dave worked hard to make my special day relaxing. I even go to sleep late on Sunday morning!
Jackson came home from school with a flower that he colored and picture of himself in the middle. He also made(cut, colored, and wrote in) a card. I absolutely LOVE crafts that children do independently. I am so sappy about these types of things! Dave picked out the cutest and sweetest cards from each of the boys and himself. He writes such sincere little notes in my cards that leave my love tank full!
I told Jackson to gather a few toys that he and Luke would like to play with at the beach. I told him we didn't need many...:/

Jackson, Mommy, and Grammie at dinner -- Jackson was so excited about seeing Grandpa and Grammie. He kept telling me (starting about Wednesday when we made her card) that we would be seeing Grammie soon! :) Finally, we got there!
Jackson gets many special treats when he sees Grandpa and Grammie. This time it was a new Buzz Lightyear toy and Krispy Kreme doughnuts -- chocolate glazed with sprinkles to be exact! Oh my, Grammie assured me that it would be no problem if he got messy! Even better, he got to ride in Grandpa's car to get the doughnuts! Look how serious he is about eating every piece of doughnut!

The two little guys that have given me the name "Mommy"! I never knew such a love existed until I experienced it with these two guys! I had heard my mom talk about it, but never could really know until I became a mother. I thank my God for the blessing of being a mommy, experiencing life through the precious eyes of my sons, and the gift of little boys created in His image.

The Swing
This swing has proven to be a favorite of both boys. Jackson took his naps in it until he was basically about to crawl out! Luke would sleep in it if I would let him, too. I was ready to put it up until I stuck Luke in it last week after he was unhappy on the floor. He smiled so big! I tried it again today after the pest contol guy came, and he
put his arms out to go into it, smiling! He looked huge in it, though!
